Chronic health effects

Inhalation overexposure to ethanol vapors can cause headache, nausea, dizziness and drowsiness. Studies in laboratory animals involving prolonged and repeated inhalation exposures to ethanol resulted in liver damage. Prolonged and repeated oral dosing of laboratory animals has caused mutagenic and developmental toxicity.

Carcinogenicity
The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has reported ethanol to be carcinogenic (based on chronic ingestion of alcoholic beverages). Inhalation overexposure to difluoroethane vapors can cause drowsiness, loss of consciousness, asphyxia and death.
